The organisation responsible for light rail safety in the UK has picked up no less than three accolades at an event celebrating excellence across the sector.
An ambitious project exploring the potential of using track vibrations to alert pedestrians of approaching trams, and a sector-wide initiative aimed at standardising training and skills development were both Highly Commended at the Global Light Rail Awards.

Carl Williams, LRSSB Chief Executive, commented: “We’re particularly pleased that the work being done to develop a sector-wide Skills Hub has impressed judges for both the Project of the Year and Vision of the Year awards.
“Meanwhile, our collaboration with the private sector and academics to enhance non-motorised user (NMU) crossings safety using pioneering ‘Vibesafe’ technology received similar recognition in the Technical Innovation category.”

The awards were presented at a high-profile event at Battersea Arts Centre last night (Wednesday, October 7), and further information can be found here.
