A member of the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board Team has been presented with a prestigious award at a high-profile event in London last week.

Carly Swift, the organisation’s Marketing and Communications Manager, scooped top honours in the digital communications category at the Leadership in Passenger Transport Awards.

After joining the organisation in 2023, Carly has led a transformation in the way the LRSSB communicates with its stakeholders, embracing social media channels and e-newsletters.

These have been complemented by the launch of a podcast series, entitled Let’s Talk Light Rail, which has also highlighted the work of the LRSSB and its mission to prevent incidents and reduce harm.

Carl Williams, LRSSB Chief Executive, commented: “Carly is a well-deserved winner of this award and of the recognition from colleagues across the transport industry.

“Her innovative use of digital media has brought news of our success to a much broader audience, while keeping stakeholders informed of progress on a series of key projects.”

After receiving the award during the event at London’s Indigo at the O2, Carly added: “I’m thrilled at receiving this accolade, which came as a complete surprise, and it really reflects the hard work of the LRSSB, which has given us plenty to shout about over the past 12 months.”
