Now that the clocks have gone back, the organisation driving light rail safety is relaunching a video urging the public to ‘Be Smart Around Trams at Night’.

Part of a series of short animations commissioned by the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board, it highlights the need to take extra care when crossing tram tracks, particularly when it gets dark.

Carly Swift, LRSSB Marketing and Communications Manager, explained: “Operators are welcome to use the videos to complement their own safety campaigns, and they are ideal for posting on social media channels.

“They can also be used on tram-stop information displays and now that it’s dark during the busiest times of the day for many networks, this is an ideal time of year to remind the travelling public that they need to keep a close lookout for tram headlights whenever they’re near to the tracks.”

The video can be viewed and downloaded here, and any safety professional who would like more information of how best to use the videos for their own network should email Carly.swift@lrssb.org.
